Feb. 26, 1992: Jean Yawkey, the first woman to serve on the board of directors of baseball's Hall of Fame, dies in Massachusetts General Hospital at the age of 83 after suffering a stroke less than a week ago. She has been the majority owner of the Boston Red Sox since her husband Tom, the owner since 1933, passed away in 1976.
